Exploring Mines and Ghost Towns

Abandoned Mine BuildingIf you live in BC Canada, especially in the Southern section of the province, it's hard to go too far offroad without encountering some sort of abandoned town in the mountains.

Many of these ghost towns flared up and died along with the mine they are next too. Some towns just happened to be on the wrong side of a mountain from the railway, so once the railway was put through, the towns would actually move to be closer to it.

Although this site doesn't give any directions on the mine and ghost town locations, it has lots of pictures to give you a good idea of what's out there. The site owner also provides his email address, so you could try and contact him for better trail directions.
